The liberty bell.. Why is it important?
The liberty bell was made by white chapel Foundry in 1752. Important inscription on the bell is the biblical verse " Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants there off". Lev; xxvx.
The bell was made for the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly and rung during the reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8th.. The bell is made of 70% copper and 25% tin. The bell use to travel the country and the first crack was noticed in the 1840's.
Another fun fact that there has been a bell made for every 100 years of the country long history. One was made in 1876 and this is the one they ring today when you visit. The other one was made in 1976 and in storage.
